MOLYKOTE® 44 High Temp. Bearing Grease, Light

MOLYKOTE® 44 Light High Temperature Bearing Grease is an NLGI Grade 1 to 2, silicone-based grease with a lithium thickener and a base oil viscosity of 84 cSt at 40°C.

Product Overview

MOLYKOTE® 44 High Temperature Bearing Grease, Light is a premium silicone-based grease formulated with a lithium thickener. It exhibits excellent high-temperature stability without the loss of oil experienced by cheaper grease chemistries, resulting in decreased cost of ownership, lengthened maintenance cycles, and ultimately lower OpEx (operational expense) costs. MOLYKOTE® 44 High Temperature Bearing Grease, Light provides a lubricant solution with a less viscous consistency than the similar MOLYKOTE® 44 High Temperature Bearing Grease, Medium grade; for applications with higher speeds and more flowable lubricant requirements. This makes it particularly suitable for high-speed bearings in electric motors, fans, and other machinery where efficient lubrication is crucial. Additionally, its superior resistance to oxidation and thermal degradation extends the service life of components, reducing maintenance costs and downtime.

MOLYKOTE® 44 Light High Temperature Bearing Grease also offers excellent protection against corrosion and wear, ensuring that machinery runs smoothly even in harsh environments. Its compatibility with a wide range of materials further enhances its versatility, making it an ideal choice for various industrial applications.

Applications

MOLYKOTE® 44 High Temperature Bearing Grease, Light can be used in a variety of applications, including but not limited to the following:
  • Rolling element bearings in high-temperature environments: These are critical components in machinery operating under extreme heat, ensuring smooth motion and durability. They are designed to withstand the thermal expansion of materials and prevent deformation over time.
  • Oven fans, textile drying, kilns, etc.: In industries such as food processing and textile manufacturing, oven fans and kilns require reliable bearings to maintain consistent performance. These applications often demand materials that can endure prolonged exposure to high temperatures without compromising efficiency.
  • Conveyor systems: Found in various industries, conveyor systems rely on robust bearings for continuous operation, transporting goods efficiently and with minimal maintenance. Durability and resistance to heat and friction are essential for optimal functioning.
  • Automotive bearings and release systems: In automotive applications, bearings are vital for the smooth operation of engines and release systems. They must endure high speeds and temperatures, ensuring reliability and safety in demanding conditions.

Features & Benefits

  • Low base oil evaporation rates, which help maintain the oil's effectiveness over extended periods, ensuring long-lasting lubrication even under high-stress conditions.
  • Great oxidation resistance, preventing the formation of sludge and deposits, which can impede the performance and longevity of machinery.
  • Excellent compatibility with plastic surfaces, making it ideal for use in various industrial applications where plastic components are prevalent, thus preventing wear and tear.
  • Robust temperature range (−40°C to 200°C), allowing the lubricant to perform efficiently in both extreme cold and high heat scenarios, making it versatile for different environments.
  • Good water resistance and wash-off stability, ensuring that the lubricant remains effective even in wet or humid conditions, thereby reducing the frequency of reapplication and maintenance costs.
  • Enhanced load-carrying capability, which ensures that mechanical parts are protected against wear during heavy-duty operations, extending the lifespan of equipment. Which reduces both OpEx and CapEx costs long term.

Problems Solved

  • Melting greases or base oil evaporation loss, which can significantly affect lubrication efficiency and lead to increased wear and tear on machinery components.
  • Micropitting or excessive bearing damage, often resulting from inadequate lubrication or the use of incompatible grease, can reduce the lifespan of equipment and increase maintenance costs.
  • Grease lockup at low temperatures, a common challenge in colder climates, can prevent adequate lubrication flow and cause mechanical failures if not addressed promptly.
  • Water solubility concerns or grease loss, which can occur in wet environments, may lead to corrosion and further degrade the performance of mechanical systems, necessitating frequent inspections and replacements.
