MOLYKOTE® G-807 Compound

270

Silicone-based compound with PTFE thickener engineered for metal-on-rubber and metal-on-plastic interfaces in automotive ball joints and brake calipers, providing corrosion protection without damaging elastomer components.

Product Overview

MOLYKOTE® G-807 Compound is a specialized silicone-based lubricant formulated with PTFE solid lubricants designed specifically for automotive suspension and brake system applications where rubber boot and plastic component compatibility is critical. This NLGI Grade 1 non-melting compound delivers exceptional low-friction performance across a temperature range of -40°C to 150°C (-40°F to 302°F) while maintaining complete compatibility with EPDM rubber, nitrile, and other elastomers commonly used in automotive dust boots, seals, and bushings. The soft, white, grease-like consistency enables easy application through conventional lubrication methods including brush application, grease guns, and automated dispensing equipment.

Unlike petroleum-based chassis greases that cause rubber swelling, hardening, and premature boot cracking, MOLYKOTE® G-807’s silicone chemistry provides long-term lubrication without chemical attack on elastomer components. The compound’s excellent corrosion inhibition properties protect metal surfaces from moisture and road salt exposure while the PTFE solid lubricants reduce friction and wear in metal-to-rubber and metal-to-plastic contact zones. The non-melting characteristics of silicone ensure consistent performance without oil separation or consistency changes throughout extreme temperature cycling, making it ideal for lifetime-lubricated sealed ball joints, control arm bushings, and brake caliper slide pin assemblies.

Applications

Automotive ball joints (sealed and serviceable)
Suspension control arm bushings and pivot points
Brake caliper slide pins with rubber boots
Tie rod ends and steering linkages
Sway bar bushings and end link assemblies
Steering rack boots and dust seals
CV joint boot interfaces
Metal-on-rubber electromechanical actuators
Plastic gear assemblies in automotive mechanisms
Window regulator tracks and guides
Door hinge pins with rubber seals
Automotive weatherstripping lubrication

Features & Benefits

Superior Rubber and Elastomer Compatibility

Silicone base chemistry does not cause swelling, hardening, cracking, or degradation of EPDM, nitrile, and natural rubber boots and seals, preventing the premature dust boot failures that lead to contamination and component seizure in suspension systems.

Wide Temperature Range Performance

Maintains consistent lubrication and protection from -40°C to 150°C without viscosity changes, oil separation, or performance degradation, ensuring reliable operation in extreme winter conditions and high-temperature summer environments.

Non-Melting Consistency

Silicone’s thermal stability eliminates the dripping, runoff, and consistency changes common with petroleum-based greases exposed to heat, maintaining protective lubrication film in brake calipers and suspension components throughout service life.

Excellent Corrosion Protection

Advanced corrosion inhibitor package protects metal ball studs, caliper pins, and pivot points from moisture intrusion and road salt attack, preventing the rust formation that causes binding, noise, and premature component replacement.

Low Friction and Wear Reduction

PTFE solid lubricant additives significantly reduce coefficient of friction in metal-to-rubber and metal-to-plastic interfaces, minimizing wear, reducing breakaway torque, and extending service life of sealed suspension and steering components.

Lifetime Lubrication Performance

Excellent oxidation stability and resistance to water washout enable single-fill lifetime lubrication in sealed ball joints and suspension assemblies, eliminating maintenance requirements and reducing total cost of ownership.

Problems Solved

Rubber Boot Degradation and Suspension Component Contamination

Eliminates the rubber swelling, cracking, and boot failure caused by petroleum-based greases, preventing the dirt and moisture intrusion that leads to seized ball joints, worn tie rod ends, and premature suspension component replacement requiring costly alignment and labor.

Ball Joint and Bushing Squeaking in Sealed Assemblies

Provides lifetime lubrication in sealed suspension components without causing the rubber boot deterioration that allows lubricant loss and metal-to-metal contact, eliminating the squeaking noises and binding that occur in ball joints and control arm bushings as boots crack and grease dries out.

Brake Caliper Slide Pin Binding from Boot Degradation

Prevents the EPDM caliper boot swelling and seal failure caused by incompatible lubricants, ensuring proper caliper floating action and eliminating the uneven brake pad wear, noise, and reduced stopping power resulting from restricted slide pin movement.

Temperature-Induced Grease Migration and Contamination

Maintains consistent thickness and adhesion without the dripping, runoff, or oil separation that occurs when petroleum greases are heated in brake systems or suspension components, preventing contamination of brake pads, rotors, and ABS sensors from migrating lubricant.
