The rate of relative movement for slides, guides and tracks are typically slower in nature and not more than about 10 - 20 feet per minute. In general, the slower the speed and the higher the load, the more difficult it is to create a lubricant film. Therefore the lubricant should be higher in viscosity or even contain some type of solid lubricant. Conversely to this, higher speeds and lower loads may allow lower viscosity oils without solid lubricants. There are many options to consider including oils, greases, pastes, or dry film lubricants.
