Application
Proper understanding of plain bearing operation is needed to specify the right lubricant for longer bearing life. Based on the conditions, the proper lubricant may be a grease, an oil or even possibly a paste or anti-friction coating. The Load, Environment, Temperature and Speed all play a critical role in selection of the lubricant. Based on the conditions, the best lubricant may be a low viscosity oil with only rust & oxidation resistance, while other conditions may dictate a grease heavily fortified with solid lubricants. Other conditions may warrant some other lubricant entirely. In some cases a combination of lubricant types may provide the best performance.
